Water Testing
We can test your aquarium water (bring a small jam jar full) for standard parameters, especially important as a double check if you are getting abnormal values at home. If your reagents are past their expiry date, this is a possible source of error.
Measurement electrodes also do not last for ever, a lack of maintenance can shorten their lives and result in erroneous measurements, they should be kept clean and recalibrated from time to time. Density is also important, an areometer calibrated for aquarium temperature (not for winemaking etc.) is sufficient, but more accurate devices are also available.

Proper Care:
A well- maintained system is a healthy system!
Neglect may cause problems which are not easy to eradicate and which affect your fishes' and invertebrates' health.
Failure to remove waste products (nitrate and phosphate in particular) may lead to explosive algal growth.
Regular water changes are the simplest and best way of effectively removing waste and maintaining levels of many trace elements. Maintaining Calcium levels as well as those of particular trace elements may also need regular attention.
